Why writing

We all have different reasons why we chose our career paths.  Most of us will stay in medicine.  It’s a good career field, and there are definite benefits.  Some of us, however, will change.  Medicine may prove to be to hard, there may be better earning potential somewhere else or, maybe, something completely out of our control will force us to change.  In any case, the question becomes what is to be done next?  The answer to this question may be medical writing.
So, why choose medical writing?  One answer, that may be obvious, is that it allows for staying connected to the medical world.  Like listening to it through a stethoscope.  Another answer is that it gives an opportunity to share your thoughts with the medical community.  It can also give you a broader view of what doctors do.  Of course, there are a myriad of other reasons why choosing a career in medical writing might be a good idea.  These are just a few of them.
If you want to write, go for it.  At least it can be a starting off point.  Any direction you turn in your job search, you will find the need for good writing.  And many jobs will look favorably on someone who has developed their writing skills.
